Fes Desert Tours 2 Days to Merzouga review

Perfect 2 Days Desert tour from Fes to Merzouga Sahara

This tour was amazing. Absolutely the highlight of my trip. Every part was fantastic and I felt very well maintained. As a lonely traveler who was particularly important to me. I will give a fairly complete review here because I enjoyed it so much and I want to encourage everyone to book this. My driver, Hassan was absolutely amazing. He told us little information during the trip, making the whole experience a bit like a guided tour. I knew all the nice places on the street that had clean bathrooms. During our last stop, she also recommended picking up a small decorative bottle to fill with sand as a souvenir. I hadn’t thought about it and I’m so glad you recommended it.

first day of my 2 Days tour from Fes to Merzouga desert, a Trip to Merzouga: This unit is amazing. You can see much of the diversity of the Moroccan landscape. Our driver offered us the chance to stop and see the monkeys or go more directly so we could be sure to catch the sunset. We decided to stop and see the monkey on his way back. I’m glad you offered it because we did it in a colorable amount of time. Camel walking wasn’t long enough to make you feel that way and not climb.

Then we climb a sand dune and watch the sunset from the top. *Do you have money to tilt the camel guide or buy one of its fascinating fossils? I did not have my wallet, the other person tipped him for both of us. The meal at the camp was lovely followed by music around the fire, then a short trip off the field to see the stars. I have never seen so many stars! The accommodation was more pleasant than I expected.

Each room had a toilet, a sink, and a small hand shower. Hot water is limited but there are some. The beds have many warm blankets, but if you come in winter and there is no heating, then come ready for it. The only thing I would have liked to pack were warmer socks for the night (winter is, frankly, a good time to go)

Day 2: Waking up to see the sunrise over the Sahara was terrific! We had a nice breakfast at the camp before we got the camels back in the car. Then we took a one-hour tour of an old town where the royal family lived, the guide was excellent and very informative. We arrive in Fes in the afternoon and at the end of our 2 Days desert tours from Fes to Merzouga, if you have any questions about your trip, call the organizer.

Best trip of 2 Days desert tours from Fes to Merzouga

Lots of road in a comfortable minibus and friendly driver for little time in the dunes. But it’s still enough to see and spend a magical moment! The playful monkeys then the landscape of the dunes are breathtaking, the camel ride is typical, and the night in the Berber camp was really nice. We ate our best tajine of all our stay in the camp. Everyone we met was extremely kind.  highly recommended.

Places To See On Your 2 Days Fes Desert Tours To Merzouga

Ifrane:

Ifrane is a beautiful village 65 kilometers south of Fes. Ifrane is clean and tidy and has parks, lakes, and houses in the alpine style, which makes it the “Switzerland of Morocco”.

Cedar Forest Of Azrou:

Azrou is an important Berber town located within the Middle Atlas, where about 80,000 inhabitants live. Better known than the city is its cedar forest and the monkeys that live here.

To be honest, few travelers come to Azrou to visit it, as it is its cedar forest that has made the city famous.

The best-known inhabitant of the forest is Gouraud, the largest and oldest cedar in the region. Unfortunately, he died a few years ago because of a plague of processionaries.

A few meters from the place where the Gouraud cedar lived, you will find souvenir stalls where you can buy souvenirs for your trip to Fes.

The Ziz Valley:

The Ziz Valley is a mixed culture world par excellence. The fields, in addition to palm trees, combine other crops such as fruit trees, cumin, cereals, alfalfa, vegetables…

Since the launch of several agricultural recovery programs, agriculture has grown significantly, especially among young people in the region. The goal is to help them resume the activity of their forefathers and revive their lands. Since then, many local skills have returned to their roots, bringing with them modern technologies and know-how complementing that inherited from the past.

The development of the farm in the valley is not at the expense of ecosystems and water resources. The rationalization of irrigation and respect for the biosphere are the watchwords in each project. Thanks to joint efforts, the valley has changed its face in just two decades.

Merzouga Sahara Desert Erg Chebbi:

Merzouga is located in eastern Morocco, close to the border with Algeria (about fifty kilometers away). It’s actually a small Moroccan village.

The Sahara Desert of Merzouga has located 350 km from Ouarzazate, 200 km from Tinghir, and 550 km from Marrakech. Or 470 km south of Fes, which is not very close…

In general, therefore, the passage through this desert is included in a touring loop (with the possibility of one or more nights on site), rather than in a one-day round trip from one of these cities.
