The Journey
Take your time to truly feel the magic of the Sahara. Our 4-day Marrakech to Merzouga desert tour is the perfect choice for travelers who want to avoid long driving hours and spend a full day exploring the desert’s secrets. From the High Atlas peaks to the deep orange dunes of Erg Chebbi, this is the ultimate **Morocco itinerary**.
Day 1: Atlas Mountains & Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou
We begin our **4-day journey** by crossing the High Atlas via the Tizi n'Tichka pass. We'll explore the UNESCO world heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou, a stunning example of Moroccan earthen clay architecture. After lunch, we pass through Ouarzazate, known as the gate of the desert, and spend our first night in the beautiful Dades Valley.
Day 2: Todgha Gorges to Erg Chebbi Dunes
After breakfast, we walk through the massive Todgha Gorges before heading towards Merzouga. Along the way, we'll see the changing landscapes of the pre-Sahara. We reach the dunes of Erg Chebbi by afternoon, where you'll mount your camel for a trek into the dunes to witness a spectacular sunset. Night at a luxury desert camp under the stars.
Day 3: Full Desert Exploration & Nomads
This day is dedicated to the Sahara. We'll take a 4x4 tour to visit Nomad families in their traditional tents and share a cup of tea. We'll visit the village of Khamlia to enjoy Gnaoua music and see the Mifis lead mines. In the afternoon, you can try sandboarding or simply relax at a riad with a pool at the edge of the dunes.
Day 4: Draa Valley & Return to Marrakech
After a final desert sunrise, we start our return journey through the lush Draa Valley, home to millions of palm trees. We'll pass through Agdz and the Anti-Atlas mountains. We'll have several stops for photos and lunch before arriving back in Marrakech in the early evening, concluding your unforgettable 4-day desert adventure.
